Tokyo!

From Thursday (29th) to Saturday (31st) last week, Francesco, Jessa and I went on a trip with Mrs. Kamikawa to Tokyo. It was great! It's not often that you get to travel half across the world to see these things in real life! I'd hoped that, upon coming to Japan, I might be able to see Tokyo. I always thought it'd be a shame coming to Japan for a year and not seeing the capital once. Goal accomplished! ^^ I can't be bothered to write it all out again, seeing as I'm currently writing three rotary reports (Two in Japanese and one in English), so I'm copy-pasting a bit.

The first day (29th) we met up with the Kamikawas at Chuo eki and were driven to the airport where we took a plane to Tokyo. Once in Tokyo, we got on a sightseeing bus that took us to see first the Emperor’s palace, the Sensoji temple and then the Tokyo tower. In the Tokyo tower they had small windows in the floor that you could look down through. Awesome! :D

Tokyo was so big! From the tower it looked like one of those clattered children rooms where you won't put your feet down in fear of stepping on (and possibly destroying) something. Except here those "somethings" were buildings. A lot of them.

In the evening we went to our hotel that was located in the middle of Shinjuku, right by the station (which was huge!). The hotel, too, was enormous – the reception was at the 20th floor! At the hotel we ate at an Italian restaurant that served delicious food. Francesco went crazy and ate tons, as did the rest of us I think, haha!

On the 30th we woke up around 8 AM and ate breakfast at the hotel before we all went out to look around and shop. We went around Shinjuku and to Shibuya and Harajuku, which was a lot of fun! Harajuku was a lot smaller than I'd thought, with only one line going to the station, but that just added to the appeal I think. It made it kind of...intimate. And yes, there were lots of people in cute clothes! :D Also - so many places and shops I’d never seen before! It was really interesting! And I found Closet Child, a shop selling second-hand lolita clothes from brands like "Baby, the Stars Shine Bright", "Angelic Pretty", "Metamorphose temps de fille" and "Moi-même-Moitié". Heaven!

The third and last day we had some time before we had to leave for the airport, so we spent some more time shopping and looking around. It was a lot of fun! At about 2 o’clock we went to the airport, where we bought omiyage (Rotary club, host family and classmates) before going home.

In short: great trip! I'd love to come back to Tokyo one day...

I hope my little Marie Antoinette did not spend too much of her money on different dresses. You can't eat cake all the time, you know! ;D
